The Harry Potter Shop at Platform 9 ¾ is the official home of Harry Potter merchandise, souvenirs and collectibles.
As any fan of J.K. Rowling’s bestselling series will know, King’s Cross is where students of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry catch the Hogwarts Express.
It was our absolute pleasure to build the The Harry Potter Shop at Platform 9 ¾ for the second time, since its initial launch back in 2012.

Problem
The Challenge
One of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time, Mystery Box was tasked with the challenge - and honour - of designing the entire online experience. We sought to develop a retail platform capable of catering for tens of millions of annual transactions, whilst perfectly capturing the essence of the brand.
Thinking
The Approach
Creatively, the goal was to utilise space cleverly to provide the ultimate UX experience, whilst adhering to the brands established design system. The store is written in fully custom Liquid, expanding the Shopify platform to its limits and beyond - gaining us Shopify Plus Partner status. The build also features Shopify's "Multipass" API, redirecting users from 3rd party sites to the Platform 9 ¾ store seamlessly, without them having to log in again to complete their purchase.
Result
The Experience
The user is presented with a seamless journey throughout, enabling them to navigate the extensive Harry Potter catalogue and truly experience the magic. Unique 'custom products' were developed, such as the 'Personalised Hogwarts Acceptance Letter' and 'Hogwarts Gift Trunks', allowing the client to offer one-of-a-kind products to its customers. A world first on the Shopify platform and a must for any Harry Potter fan worth their wand.
